UCI Track World Cup Manchester

The UCI Track World CUp came to the Manchester Velodrome for three days of top class track cycling.

There was triple success for Katie Archibald in the Omnium (Silver), Madison (Gold) with Ellie Barker and Women’s Team Pursuit  (Gold).

The Men's pursuit team which included Ed Clancy won an impressive gold, beating Denmark in the final.

Sale v Saracens Anglo Welsh Cup

A Sale Sharks side brimming with youth and experience came back from a first half defecit of 13-19 to win their second consecutive Anglo Welsh game in just over a week under the stewardship of Paul Deacon.

The 'senior'players of Ben Curry, AlexandruTarus and Mike Haley provided the tries and AJ McGinty kicked throught the sticks four times to set up an impressive 29-22 win against one of the strongest squads in Europe.

Sale honoured our armed forces with a respectful one minute silence before the start of the match.

WRC Welsh Rally 2017

Elfyn Evans won the Welsh rally today with a 37.3s advantage over his nearest rivals.

Elfyn won 9 of the 21 special stages, but had to settle for 5th here at SS14 Cholmondeley Castle.

Belgian Thierry Neuville won SS14 in his Hyundia I20 WRC and finished second to Evans overall.

Sebastian Ogier clinched his fifth consecutive FIA World Rally championship with third place overall.

Sale v Exeter Chiefs

Sale had to settle for a single bonus point in a hard fought battle against the champions Exeter on friday night.

Neither side played expansive flowing rugby and much of the game was spent kicking from end to end.

In a tight contest a single try from Exeter scored early in the second half proved to be the difference. 

Sale tried hard in the closing minutes to force over a try, but the Exeter defence held out.

Sale v Toulouse

Sale had to settle for a draw in their opening European game against French giants Toulouse.

Approaching half time Sale were down 14-3 but a great Denny Solomona try set up by Faf de Klerk saw them reach half time just four points adrift.

After the break Bryn Evans was rewarded with a try for charging down Toulouse full back Medard.

Sale lead 20-17 and were looking like taking an opening win, but a late penalty allowed Toulouse to share the spoils.

Sale v London Irish

Sale bounced back from last weeks poor performance to score five tries against the newly promoted Exiles.

Wingers Denny Solomona and Josh Charnley were both on the scoresheet. Ross Harrison scored his first ever try for the club.

Mark Jennings rounded off the evening with a showboat try to complete a 36-7 bonus point win.
